Is there a Dress Code?
On the Lord’s Day (Sunday), please feel free to wear whatever you would normally wear to come into the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords before whom every knee will one day bow (Phil 2:10)!
On our part, we do not judge anyone by their income or what they can afford to spend on their clothes. Some dress up and some come “casually”. All are welcome.
For Thursday’s Celebrate Recovery, the usual dress code is casual.
What are your Worship Services like?
In addition to a Bible Based sermon weekly, we praise the Lord in song, confess our need of Jesus Christ and confess His sufficiency in all things. We plead to Him for His glory to be extended, for Him to meet our needs, and for the Lord to meet the needs of others. In His mercy, the Lord Jesus Christ also welcomes those who have been baptized in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and who seek to live as His faithful followers to enter into communion with Him in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. We also routinely practice anointing with oil and prayer for healing when requested. Then Christ’s holy people are sent out into the world to serve with the Lord’s blessing upon them!
We sing psalms and hymns and we focus on words that exalt Jesus Christ the Lord. Have you ever noticed how many “Christian” songs could be sung to someone’s “boyfriend” or “girlfriend”? Or to another god entirely? They don’t even mention the God of the Bible by name! We try to avoid those!
We believe the “Worship Service” actually trains people how to live a life of daily and complete reliance on Jesus Christ according to His Word. That’s how the Church of Jesus Christ has always viewed worship. Our worship service will help you carry God’s praises and simple prayers in your heart and help you keep the message of Christ with you at all times. It’s not “just” about the sermon. It’s about all God’s people being called into our Lord’s Presence to give Him praise and carry His blessing with us wherever we go.
Who can participate in Holy Communion?
Here are our Guidelines for Receiving Holy Communion At St. Andrew’s Church. Basically we welcome all baptized Christians who want to live a life that honors Jesus Christ and who come to Holy Communion to be fed by His Own Strength to do so!
How Do I Join? You can learn more here on our page called “How To Join”. We welcome new members using a “New Members” class that reminds everyone about the why we’re “here” in the first place – to follow Jesus Christ the Lord!
What if I don’t know anything about the Bible?
Don’t worry. Nobody here has “arrived”! That’s why we all continue to study! For the most part we use Bibles that are easy to understand and we have a program to help people learn the Bible and, more importantly, find God’s help, strength, and mercy as we learn it!
