So what’s “Mission Lawrence” and how does it relate to St. Andrew’s Church?
Mission Lawrence is the vision of St. Andrew’s Church for serving Jesus Christ in Lawrence County TN and beyond… It’s our work of Proclaiming Jesus Christ the Supreme Savior and Lord so that all people may glorify and enjoy Him! It’s the work of the “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:18-20).
As we’ve said already, we exist by and for Jesus Christ, to serve and not to be served. That requires us to look beyond ourselves to how the Good News of Jesus’ Supremacy is the hope our friends in this community need. It’s our way of seeking to “love our neighbor as ourselves” (Matthew 22:39). In the long run, we envision Mission Lawrence will provide a variety of benevolent Christ centered ministries as part of fulfilling the The Message and Mission of Jesus Christ.
With God’s help, in March 2010 we began our first community wide ministry: Celebrate Recovery, a Christ centered 12 Step program for anyone with “hurts, hang ups, or habits”.
It’s not just for “our church”. Participants aren’t required to be members here. Participants who come from another church are encouraged to return there to serve! And trained volunteers from other churches are welcome to assist here. We even provide the training!
What we do as Mission Lawrence is designed to show Christ’s transforming mercies to the community at large.
